In their weekly lessons, students learn to perform some of their favorite songs while honing their performance technique. Students build confidence by identifying their own strengths, as well as opportunities for improvement. My teaching is guided by each student’s individual needs and interests. To meet these needs, I borrow from a variety of teaching methods and musical genres, including Kodaly, Solfege, Suzuki, classical, folk, pop, jazz, and musical theater.

Music is a tool for self-expression that is meant to be shared. By exploring different genres and styles, students learn to identify their own musical interests and develop a unique sound. In music lessons, students master the foundations of music and build the confidence they need to feel comfortable both on stage and in their lives.

Bennington’s Experienced Music Teacher

Michelle-3The music bug bit me as a toddler when I first heard the Jackson 5’s ABC. (If you ever meet my mom, ask her about it. It’s a great story.) After spending most of my days and nights in music rehearsals as a child, I spent my college hours the same way. I began teaching music lessons while studying Music Education at Hofstra University. Since then, I’ve maintained a small studio, and at the beginning of 2019, I decided to expand my studio.

As a classically trained vocalist and violinist, I’ve performed with orchestras, chamber groups, and as a soloist. I currently perform with the Bennington County Choral Society and rehearse with a string quartet when I’m not teaching music lessons.
